RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I have been working as a Consultant Surgeon with the Epsom & St Helier University Hospitals since April 1999. I graduated in Bombay India with Masters in General Surgery and completed my Higher Surgical Training in Wales UK with specialist registration in Upper GI surgery. I was a Fellow at University Hospital California, Los Angeles in 1997 where I spent a year training in the Foregut Unit with Prof Dr DeMeester and carried out further research culminating in MPhil degree awarded for my thesis on Bile Reflux in Barrett’s Oesophagus by the University College of Medicine Cardiff, Wales.

I visited the Gastric Cancer Unit at the National Cancer Hospital in Tokyo. In 2015 I took a year sabbatical to work in New Zealand.

I am passionate about teaching medical students and training junior doctors. I was appointed Surgical Tutor for the London Deanery from 2005 and examiner for the fellowship exams at the Royal college of Surgeons of England. I regularly contribute to the postgraduate and GP lecture program in the hospitals. I have travelled widely and presented scientific papers. I also undertake training of doctors internationally in countries such as India, Malawi and Romania.

I am a member of the Association of Surgeons of GB & Ireland, Surgical Society of Alimentary Tract (SSAT) USA and Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons GBI.

I am on the specialist register with the GMC ( Registration no 3637566 -  http://www.gmc-uk.org/register/search/index.asp).
